We paid $10 each for two Spiderman waterbottles, which after just a couple of months have that awful gymshoe mouldy smell about them.
Any ideas on how to get rid of that foul smell, or how to prevent it?

Here's another one - how do you get rid of musty smells emanating from your dishwasher when it washes. I'd particularly love to hear from London people about this - it seems the water here turns smelly very quickly.

Ever hopeful, I will pose another one here - what is it with parsnips in this country? I keep getting them in my vegie boxes, and never know what to do with them that anyone will eat. They seem mean little things to me, not like the big earthy turnip or the gorgeous celeriac, which I am thrilled to see they have loads of here. All recipes will be gratefully received, maybe I will even offload my current craft project onto the kind giver, if they're not too far away.
PS - I've kept the gym-bag smell out of our current water bottles by always keeping about half a cup of water in them, then tipping the water out (on the garden) each day before refreshing. The larger amount of water seems to resist mouldy smells better. Yeah. I win the prize!

Still don't know what to do with my parsnips, which is a shame because I have made a lovely and very daggy lavender bag out of provencal lavendar which I would have given to anyone who could produce a recipe any one of my family would eat (not all of them, that would be worthy of a much bigger prize)
Meanwhile, I am looking for an at-home recipe for bubble-blowing liquid, as the boys have a growing number of bubble blowers lying around with nothing to blow out of them.
I can not bring myself to pay lots of pounds for bubble blowing liquid, particularly when I do not even know what is in the commercial varieties.
Living in hope...

Hi there
Ages ago you asked about a recipe for bubble blowing liquid. It is very simple: (good quality) dishwashing liquid and some water. You'll need to have enough dishwashing liquid that you can see colours in the water.. Hope this helps.

Okay - here is a question that has been bugging me for a while now that I have one more child than the environmental nazis deem "appropriate" for this day and age. I genuinely want to do my bit for the environment, despite having been labelled as "worse than a four wheel driver" by some envi-vangelist for choosing to have my third child....
First thing I want to tackle, in my campaign to save the world - my house at a time - is what to do with all the leftovers the kids won't eat. I run a compost but because I don't want to increase the world's rat population, I do not put meat or carbs like bread and pasta in it. These are the main staples of what my children leave over.
Today I sadly put eight lovely wholemeal crusts in the bin, with chunks of cheese still in them.
What is a girl to do?

Here's one for the mother with white carpets and no time to look through those how-to-remove-your-obscure stains books: apparently baby wipes are the best way of removing blood and red wine from carpet. Just put your babywipe on the annoying spot and press down until saturated with the offending stain, then replace with a new wipe, and repeat. Do this until the stain is gone and rub any remaining marks until they disappear.
This is great news for my carpets (not-white, unlike my in-laws) but not so great news for my baby's bottom. Am I really going to use these super strong stain removers on her fragile bits?

I have been looking everywhere online party decorations that are safe for my 2 and 3 year olds birthday parties. i found a webiste called www.partymatters.com.au which sells great looking bright paper garlands. I have seen these in Europe but its fantastic that they are now available in Australia. Has anyone tried them? They do look really nice...any ideas...We dont want to use the same old balloons and streamers which are messy and not reusable... thks

And after you return from your work place you may be tired like any thing, just take rest for an hour or less and then start doing work at home, this will help you from getting over exhausted.
